In Pakistan (2019) non-Moslem members of the National Assembly proposed a constitutional amendment to completely ban the sale of alcohol in the name of religious minorities. This proposal included member Shunila Ruth – a Christian woman.
“The Prohibition Hadd Ordinance is an extreme insult to Christianity and other minority religions, by associating blanket term ‘liquor’ and its sale with non-Muslim faiths.” (Asif Aqeel, 25 April 2023, Pakistan’s Brewing Hypocrisy, Friday Times.)
The Islamic Republic of Pakistan’s National Assembly committee, which scrutinized the alcohol ban bill, sadly dismissed it as a “publicity stunt” and “mischievous.”

Jesus: the Son of God & the Son of Man warns against beginning to eat & drink with the drunkards.
Jesus Christ, the Son of Man, shall suddenly return, with power and great glory (Daniel 7:13; Matthew 24:30; Matthew 26:64), and He warns:
Matt. 24:44 Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
Matt. 24:45 “Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season?
Matt. 24:46 Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing.
Matt. 24:47 Assuredly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all his goods.
Matt. 24:48 But if that evil servant says in his heart, “My master is delaying his coming,’
Matt. 24:49 and begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards,
Matt. 24:50 the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour that he is not aware of,
Matt. 24:51 and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Matt. 26:63 But Jesus held His peace. The high priest answered him, “I adjure you by the living God, that you tell us whether you are the Christ, the Son of God.”
Matt. 26:64 Jesus said to him, “You have said it. Nevertheless, I tell you, after this you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming on the clouds of the sky.”
Matt. 26:65 Then the high priest tore his clothing, saying, “He has spoken blasphemy! Why do we need any more witnesses? Behold, now you have heard his blasphemy.
Matt. 26:66 What do you think?” They answered, “He is worthy of death!”
Jesus laid down His life willingly; the Jewish high priest & Pilate did not really overcome Him.
John 10:17 Therefore the Father loves me, because I lay down my life, that I may take it again.
John 10:18 No one takes it away from me, but I lay it down by myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. I received this commandment from my Father.”
However their alcohol ban proposal was sadly dismissed by the dominant members of the Pakistan National Assembly.
